Escoda Opera Series Pointed Filberts

Regular price $12.00 Sale price $16.00 Unit price per

These strong, pointed filbert brushes are a wonder of the technology and high craftsmanship that is unique to Escoda. Don’t be thinking that the lovely looking softer filament “Cat’s Tongue” brushes of other brands will do the trick for pulling oil paint around. For this medium, you need a firmer filament like that of the Escoda Opera Filbert. The unique Escoda angled grab construction holds filament tightly together in a perfect point. It is the most finely pointed brush available for organic line with oils - able to rapidly and seamlessly transition from hairline to fat line by a simple turning of its angle and increase in pressure on the canvas. It is more durable than the other Escoda versions of the pointed filbert which can prove to be lovely, yet fragile.

There seem to be only 2 bushes in the escoda Opera line that I can find. Are there any other sizes ?

Hi there, Janet. I only have one Escoda Opera left in my inventory because it is a sale item that I discontinued quite a while ago, after finding a much superior product, the Rosemary & Co Eclispe Short Filbert. This pointed filbert significantly out-performs the Opera. The Opera performs quite well initiially, but wears out after maybe three months despite excellent maintenance. The Eclipse is very durable, maintaining it's sharp point indefinitely. It is wonderful to use, undulating between a hair line and a fat line flawlessly. It is ideal for any organic line like foliage, portrait detail, clouds, or drapery details. Rosemary has perfected this pointed filbert. I carry the #4 and the #6, but can get you any size you wish. The best performing of the ones I have tested so far is the # 6. It has an ideal fibre width to length ratio. Let me know if you would like to order any.
